Wednesday Writing Progress Report: Secrets & Lies 2007-12-12 02:17:00 I'm back to work on Secrets & Lies, the first part of two m/m paranormal novels. As you can see, I haven't gotten a whole lot done on this one, since I breaked to work on GWM Wanted a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to have to step things up a bit. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it may surpass the 30k estimate. There's a lot of action going on in this one. :)

Website News 2007-12-11 22:01:00 I've bit the bullet and hired someone to create a new website theme for me using wordpress -- which I know nothing about, but I like the look of other sites that use it. At the moment, I'm both excited and nauseous. Handing over the reins to my website and saying, "go at it", is a little scary for a control freak like me. Especially when I'm wordpress challenged. It took me forever to learn the Godaddy software that created the site I now have. I shudder to think how long it will take me to learn the ins and outs of wordpress. Frankly, I'm still a little surprised I didn't chicken out and change my mind at the last minute.I'll keep you all abreast of changes, but I've already seen the header that's going to used and it's FABULOUS.And for all of you who are curious, I'm using LS Designs. You can find their portfolio and whatnot here: http://lsdesigns.net/. Read more:Website

United Romance Writers Association 2007-12-11 14:04:00 There seems to be a new romance writers group on the horizon -- United Romance Writers Association. This could be an interesting group, in my opinion, since a lot of epublished authors feel alienated by the RWA. Apparently, membership is free and they welcome published authors and those still aspiring to be published. I don't know very much about it and am reserving judgment on whether or not it'll be beneficial to join, but you can find out more by visiting their website.http://www.urwa-online.com

What I'm reading... 2007-12-08 14:43:00 Carried Away by david stein(His name being in lowercase is intentional and how the book lists it)Scorching hot leathersex is only the start when a jaded bottomboy and a one-time Master come together for some no-strings bondage and s/m. But after lust is sated, each finds a deeper hunger within that moves them unexpectedly toward partnership as Owner and owned. Set in the early 1990s in New York City, Carried Away is not only replete with hard-core bondage and ferocious leathersex: it's a love story between two men who are equals in intelligence and character, but opposites in temperament. Terry Andrews is a successful architect and all-around topman with a passion for bondage and the means to indulge it. Matt Stone manages a large bookstore, but he lives for the times when he can surrender control. When these two come together at the Spike, the legendary leather bar, neither is looking for a new partner, just a night of hot action. They get that, and much more: almost in spite of them

The Itch 2007-12-06 11:44:00 I only completed my latest novella, GWM Wanted, late Tuesday night. I spent most of yesterday editing it and working on the final line edits for my December release, Pyromancer. I was thinking of taking the weekend off, giving my brain a chance to rest before I shit gears and go back to working on Secrets & Lies, another work in progress that's due to my editor soon.Unfortunately, the itch to write, to weave little fibers of mental images into a story is already gnawing at the back of my mind. I found myself reaching for notebooks and doodling random thoughts on my characters while I was watching Project Runway last night.Sometimes I wonder what I did before I started this journey as a writer. It's almost a compulsion for me now -- like an addiction. It's an odd sensation-- a little speck of a thought or idea that demands for you to stop everything and write it down before it disappears into the great black hole of forgetfulness. So, I'm off to write.
Wednesday Writing Progress Report: GWM Wanted 2007-12-05 02:14:00 GWM WantedM/M ContemporaryFinding true love is only half the battle. For Mark and Sam, love and commitment came easily. Holding onto it, won’t be nearly as simple. Well, it turned out a little shorter than I'd anticipated, but it's all finished. Yay!Now I just have to proofread and edit the puppy. *g*

Update on my request for Beta's 2007-11-28 20:57:00 A major thank you to everyone for their interest in reading for me. I never expected so many fabulous responses. I just wanted to let any latecomers know that I've chosen all the people I need and won't be taking on anyone else right now. Thanks!
Want to read my newest novels before anyone else, and for free? 2007-11-28 15:45:00 If so, here’s your chance. I’m in need of a beta reader. What’s that, you ask? Basically, it’s just someone who reads over my finished novels with an impartial eye and reports back to me with their HONEST opinion, good or bad. As nice as it is to hear from time to time, I’m not looking for someone to cater to my ego and tell me how wonderful I am.What I need from you is the ability to read quickly, in Microsoft Word or RTF format. You should be familiar with the ins and outs of the romance genre and love it. If you’re interested, email me at Amandasromance @ aol.com (remove the spaces) and tell me why I should pick you. Please keep in mind that I write in many subgenres of romance, including M/M, contemporary, and paranormal. I look forward to hearing from you.

What I'm Reading... 2007-11-27 02:01:00 Hidden Force By Shayla KerstenCold-blooded murder and hot-blooded passion…Memphis homicide detective Tony Costa's life is twisted with both. A killer is stalking prey in the bitter winter nights leaving a trail of victims with hauntingly familiar features. The blond-haired, blue-eyed young men resemble the vice cop whose bed he secretly shares. Afraid of revealing his secret to the world, he may be too late to tell the one person who matters.Ryan Nilsson wants more than a friend with benefits. Out about his sexuality since high school, Luke doesn't like hiding his relationship with Tony, but he's not willing to end it. Asked to work with Tony on a series of murders, things heat up and not always in a good way. When an old lover resurfaces during the investigation, Luke makes a decision that may be his last.
Stephen King's The Mist 2007-11-26 10:54:00 The hubbie and I went to see Stephen King's The Mist yesterday. We went to the theater earlier, as all old folks do, and saw a matinee. That's the best way to avoid the crowds and the annoying teenagers. lol.Anyway, it was pretty good. One of those movies that make you think and relate what you would do in the same situation. There's was this crazy bible-thumper that kept preaching at the people trapped inside (away from the weird spider-monsters and such), and I found myself laughing at that a lot of the time. Religious zealots tend to either make me laugh or make me stark raving mad. But I digress...The movie is good -- there's a lot of action and creepy crawlers trying to kill people. I would highly recommend it, if not for the ending. It was so depressing, I walked away feeling like I needed to scrub my brain clean.
What's Your Karaoke Theme Song? 2007-11-24 02:31:00 Your Karaoke Theme Song is "Baby Got Back"You're a total show off who is willing to risk looking like a fool to get a few laughs. Grey's Anatomy 2007-11-23 14:15:00 Did anyone else tune in to Grey's Anatomy last night? Now I admit, I had my nose stuck in a book, and was pretty much just watching out of the corner of my eye ... until I heard a voice that never fails to make me shiver and have x-rated pictures flash behind my eyes. :) Gale Harold had a cameo on last night's show and, I assume, next weeks show, since last night's is a two-parter.Although the character he's playing is rather nauseating, you can bet your biscuits I'll be watching just for him next week. :) It's nice to see him back on TV.
